Creating a Section, Chapter, or Part has never been easier. From now on, you can choose to either add a

• Title, or
• Title and Overview Map with the typical Topic/See Page table.

Block and Maps are the modular units in Information Mapping.

Block: A replacement for the traditional paragraph with three main components:

• one main idea,
• descriptive label, and
• separators (lines, white space, etc.).

Map: A collection of related Blocks with a relevant Map title.

Rule: A Map should contain no more than 7 ± 2 Blocks, depending on the complexity of the information.

Inserting an Oversized Block can be helpful when

• you want to insert a large image, flowchart, or table, and
• the space for the Block text next to the Block label is not enough.

Using the Reusable Units function allows you to easily save and insert an Information Mapping unit in your FS Pro document, without post formatting or the risks associated with copying/pasting.

The look and feel of the unit (for example, the color of the Block labels) is automatically adapted to the look and feel of your document.

Use the Continue Page function to split the Map and repeat the Map title on all corresponding pages of a Map in your FS Pro document.

This is important to guide your reader through the document.

As you add or remove content to your document, it may be necessary to remove continued pages.

It is particularly helpful when you have split a table across multiple pages as it

• removes the repeated table header, and
• merges it back together again without any extra spaces in between.

According to the Information Mapping Method®, everything you write can be classified into 6 Information Types.

These Information Types help you to categorize your information based on the purpose of the communication from the reader's perspective.

• Step/Action table (chronological), and
• If/Then table (conditional)

Thanks to the Update Topic/See Page table feature, you can provide an automatic overview of the Map, Section, or Part titles in your document along with the corresponding page numbers.

Custom Fields are variables that can be referenced and reused to automatically fill out information in your document.

Custom Fields are very useful when creating templates or model documents.

Apply numbering or lettering to your Part Titles, Chapter Titles, Section Titles, Map Titles, and/or Block Labels.

Consistency in the look and feel of your document and between documents is important. Create a Style Set via the Style Manager and easily define the formatting of your

• Headings,
• Block text,
• tables,
• bulleted and numbered lists,
• Block lines, and
• etc.

You do not want to create a specific table each time you need it in your document. Thanks to the Table Manager, you can create it once, save it, and insert it via Custom Tables.

The Outline Pane allows you to

• navigate very easily through the structure of your document,
• reorganize the components within a document,
• indicate the used information types, and
• identify errors.

It is important that you do not have errors when you want to publish your document.

Saving custom templates, tables, reusable units, style sets, etc. in your ribbon means that only you have access to these items.

By exporting these items into a zip file, you can easily share any of your custom created items with your colleagues, so they do not have to try to replicate the same thing.
